DOUNE đ´ó §ó ˘ó łó Łó ´ó ż Doune Castle
Doune The Rabbit Hole Festival
w/ BMX Bandits, The Vaselines, Mike Heron, Trembling Bells, Blurt, James Yorkston, Remember Remember, Alasdair Roberts, Mungo's HI-FI, Them Beatles, Hidden Masters and more...
The second ever edition of Doune The Rabbit Hole (when it was actually IN Doune!) and our first. Notable as Julian was too hungover ill to actually play our early afternoon set, and so Laurie Pitt was quickly recruited to fill in! We also played a second secret impromtu set that evening (Julian was back to health again by that point) which began in a gazebo at the bottom of a hill, and was then moved to one of the stage tents when noise complaints were made! (no surprises there...)
Reviews:
"...First up for us were The Cosmic Dead a band from Glasgow that sound exactly as one would expect from their name and no less thrillingly for that. They perhaps didn’t sound quiet as heavy or Krautrockish as is their want but playing outdoors during the day does something transmformative to all bands; even if it isn’t sunny. Still, we were treated to some absolutely top notch, trippy space rock, the instrumental motorik grooves perfectly pitched as a soundtrack to the afternoon..."

Battling through sound problems, Fur Hood play a difficult set mostly drowned out by an abrasive and too loud synth put through a guitar amp, which actually hurt the ears. A shame, as they have some decent songs. The Cosmic Dead don’t have this problem luckily, and build up an exciting proggy landscape, full of drones, solos and trance inducing bass. A constant ocean of sound floods in from the synth, lapping and roaring perfectly, whilst the guitarist, bassist and drummer continually build up to an exciting climax of solos and grooves…"
